Huawei, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and local partner Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) have teamed up to launch a Tech4Nature project to monitor and protect coral reefs and biodiversity in the Kisite Marine Park and Reserve- Mpunguti

in Kenya.

Tech4all aims to increase the effectiveness of surveillance and management of the protected area. On e parc marin et la réserve de Kisite-Mpunguti sont situés the southern coast of Kenya, and facing style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif">a number of nature conservation challenges such as: fishing illegal and insufficient human resources to effectively patrol the area; the lack of remote surveillance of the reserve's three coral islands adds to the pressures created by tourism, as the fringing reefs are popular dive sites; limited community awareness of the importance of reef protection and biodiversity; and the infrastructure of the network of communication is insufficient to ensure technical follow-up.

Selon la Director of Media and Government Relations for Huawei Kenya, Khadija Mohamed, “Tech4Nature is a large project that is part of Huawei's digital inclusion initiative, TECH4ALL, where we are looking for ways to implement technology and innovation in various sectors of our daily lives and to improve global standards and to ensure that we live sustainably around the world.” Le projet sera mis en œuvre en partenariat avec le Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI).
