Kenya's foreign exchange reserves exceeded $9.2 billion this week, up $324 million, as part of increased export revenues and a stronger shilling, the central bank said in an update released Friday evening.

Kenya's foreign exchange reserves exceeded $9.2 billion over the past week, supported by rising exports and a solid performance of the local shilling.

This is an increase of 324 million dollars compared to the 8.88 billion recorded the previous week, said the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), explaining that the reserves, which now stand at 9.22 billion dollars, cover 4.7 months of imports.

Revenues from goods exports, tourism and diaspora remittances grew by 15.4%, 14.6% and 18% respectively in 2024, in 2024, the CBK detailed.
