Le ministère des mines du Mali a annoncé que la Industrial gold production in this West African country fell by 23%, from 66.5 tons in 2023 to 51 tons last year.

Mali is home to industrial mines operated by international companies such as Barrick Gold, B2Gold Corp, Resolute Mining, and Hummingbird Resources. Indeed, Barrick suspended its activities in Loulo-Gounkoto last month after authorities seized its gold reserves by helicopter. Four of its employees have been detained since November for money laundering and terrorist financing, which the company denies. The Malian government says that mining companies, including Barrick, are not paying their fair share of taxes. According to a ministry document, Mali's gold production fell below 60 tonnes for the first time in over three years. Ministry data indicates that Barrick Gold remains the largest gold producer in the country, with production of 19.4 tons in 2024 excluding December production, followed by B2Gold at 13.7 tons and Resolute Mining at 7.2 tons
