Katier Bamba indicated that one of the main vectors of scams is based on the use of untraceable numbers, making it easier to scams. According to him, “very often, scammers change numbers constantly, making their identification difficult.” According to the National Union of Mobile Money Point of Sale Owners (SYNAM-CI), between 2022 and 2023, the sector registered 549 victims of scams, robberies and burglaries, causing a total loss of 270 million CFA

In addition, figures from the Platform for Combating Cybercrime (PLCC) reveal the extent of the phenomenon with a figure of 1,232 cases of Mobile Money fraud identified in 2021, with an estimated damage of 55 million CFA francs. Also, Mr. Bamba believes that the use of artificial intelligence could allow optimized management of operations and more efficient processing of customer complaints
