The Council of Ministers of Côte d'Ivoire adopted five major decrees at its last meeting. These decisions relate to the strategic mining, oil and energy sectors, and mainly concern the extension of operating permits and the awarding of new mining research permits.

The first decree adopted concerns the extension of the exclusive authorization to exploit the Baobab oil and gas field located in block CI40. This 10-year extension will bring the total duration to 40 years and will allow CNR to amortize the investments planned for the period 2025-2027. The block CI40 Baobab oil and gas field is operated by a consortium led by the Canadian company Natural Resources International Côte d'Ivoire (CNR), operating since 1998 under a production sharing contract. The investments, estimated at 1.12 billion US dollars, are intended for the development of phase 5 of the Baobab oil field. This is a project that promises to strengthen the production and competitiveness of the Ivorian oil sector

.

The other four decrees were passed concerning the awarding of mining research permits, in various natural resources, with a particular focus on gold, nickel and copper. The first decree awards two research permits for the exploitation of gold to the company ZS Ressources SARL, in the department of Daoukro. Also, there is a license for nickel and copper at Gold Bonne Ressources Minière Côte d'Ivoire SARL. The company Gold Bonne Ressources Minière Côte d'Ivoire SARL also received a permit to research nickel and copper in the departments of Sipilou and Danané. The latest research permit is awarded to the company Shiba Mining SA, for the exploitation of gold in the department of Touba

.

With these, the Government of Côte d'Ivoire is pursuing its strategy of developing and diversifying its natural resources, with an emphasis on optimizing investments and the sustainability of projects.
