In Gabon, BW Energy announced on Friday the discovery of an oil field on the Dussafu offshore license, following exploration activities specifically involving the Bourdon prospect and carried out to a total depth of 4135 m.

The exploration work, carried out at a depth of more than 4,000 meters, revealed record oil reserves according to the company. “The well was drilled to a total depth of 4,135 meters with the Borr Norve lifting platform. The evaluation of log and pressure data confirms that approximately 34 meters of net oil over a total column of 45 meters were encountered in the prolific formation of the Gamba Reservoir. ”, affirms Panoro, specifying that “it is the largest hydrocarbon column discovered to date in Dussafu.

The discovery is located 15 kilometers west of the Tortue production field, operated by the British company BW Energy Gabon (BWEG), also operator of the Dussafu Marin license in which Panoro owns a 17.5% stake, and 7.5 kilometers south-east of the “Mabomo” offshore oil production plant. According to Panoro Energy, this new field, called “Bourdon”, is the latest operation in the current Dussafu drilling campaign, which has resulted in four major oil discoveries and eight new production wells through the Hibiscus/Hive hub. These new wells, in addition to the six pre-existing wells on the Tortue production field, brought the company's total gross production on the block to approximately 40,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boej).
