Gold production in Côte d'Ivoire crossed the 50-ton mark in 2023 according to the Professional Group of Miners of Côte d'Ivoire.

Ivory Coast aims much higher and wants to become one of the largest African gold producers. Indeed, the Ivorian Minister of Mines, Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly, declared in June 2024 that Côte d'Ivoire should produce at least 100 tons of gold per year over the next five years. The aim is to achieve production similar to that of Ghana by 2030. Ghana having reached 114 tons in 2023. According to Jean-Claude Diplo, president of the Professional Group of Miners of Côte d'Ivoire, “Côte d'Ivoire aims to produce 62 tons of gold in 2025, against 58 tons in 2024”.

Achieving this objective involves the exploitation of new large mines, in particular the one under construction in Koné, located 350 km north-west of the capital, Yamoussoukro. This mine is scheduled to be operational in 2027, and is expected to become the largest in the country and produce up to 349,000 ounces of gold per year.
