Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire are collaborating to conduct regular joint inspections along their shared international maritime border, in accordance with the decision of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).

La collaboration aims to regulate offshore oil exploration, preventing unauthorized activities on the high seas of both countries, while mitigating potential future territorial disputes. It will also be about protecting marine resources and maintaining the economic interests of both countries. The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif">) issued a historic decision on September 23, 2017, resolving the maritime border dispute between Ghana and Ivory Coast. In reality, Ghana was actively exploring and exploiting oil fields in the disputed region, including the Jubilee field, while Côte d'Ivoire style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif">claimed that Ghana raped & eacute; its maritime rights. For its part, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea style="font-family: "Bookman Old Style”, serif">rejected this request and ruled that the maritime boundary should follow the equidistance method, in accordance with the position of Ghana. Thus, both countries accepted this decision peacefully, maintaining their strong bilateral relationships
