This marks a significant advance in his commitment.
Over the past four years, BOAD has mobilized around 380 billion CFA francs for the Beninese economy, supporting the public and private sectors. Since 2021, the financial institution has adopted the Djoliba Plan, whose objective is to transform BOAD into an impact bank by 2025. 70% of the 380 billion CFA francs have been allocated to the public sector and 30% to the private sector. According to Sandra Amichia, BOAD's head of mission in Benin, the bank's support to the private sector has also doubled over the last four years. According to him, this evolution reflects the economic transformation under way in Benin. BOAD supports both government infrastructure projects and private sector growth. Our main areas of intervention are road infrastructure, sanitation, agriculture, food security, natural resources and energy.
For the latter, BOAD's strategy is focused on creating added value and jobs. Economic development is closely linked to the improvement of the well-being of the population, and this requires employment. “This cashew processing project fits perfectly into our strategy and the Beninese government's action plan. The project has already created nearly 3,000 jobs, 90% of them for women, mainly in nut sorting. This project has a double objective: to encourage local investment and to create jobs,” she said.
Also, BOAD contributed 100 billion CFA francs to finance the construction of 3,035 housing units, including the development of the site with essential infrastructures such as electricity, water and telephones telecommunications, in particular optical fiber. And up to 50 billion CFA francs to the sanitation program in Cotonou and surrounding cities. This funding aims to manage stormwater and prevent floods, thus significantly improving the quality of life of residents
