Statistical data from the National Institute of Statistics and Demography (Instad) on national accounts mention that in the fourth quarter of 2024, the economic growth rate was 9.2%, after 6.3%, 6.6% and 7.3% respectively in the first, second and third quarters of the same year.

The annual report shows that economic growth rebounded to 7.5% in 2024 after 6.4% in 2023, an increase of 1.1 percentage points, according to Instad data.

This growth was felt in all business sectors.

During the period under review, the primary sector grew by 6.2%, compared to 5.9% a quarter earlier. The value added of the secondary sector increased by 13.9%, after 8.9% in the third quarter of 2024. Over the same period, the tertiary sector grew by 9.6%, compared to 7.7% a quarter earlier

It should be noted that the performance of the Beninese economy in the fourth quarter of 2024 was mainly driven by the tertiary sector, with a contribution to real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 4.2 percentage points. The primary and secondary sectors contributed 1.9 and 2.3 percentage points respectively.
