After the tax service requested permission to serve court documents by email to Binance, a Nigerian judge last Wednesday adjourned a tax evasion case against the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange until May 12.

The court adjourned the Binance case to allow the local tax authority to respond to a request from the cryptocurrency exchange to cancel an order to have court documents served on it by email. In reality, authorities accuse Binance of being responsible for Nigeria's currency instability and arrested two of its leaders in 2024 after cryptocurrency websites became platforms of choice for trading the local currency naira. But Binance did not respond to requests for comment regarding allegations of tax evasion and destabilization of the naira.
