Chowdeck is supported by YC. The acquisition brings Mira's inventory, billing, and payment tools into the Chowdeck ecosystem, allowing for deeper integration with merchant operations in restaurants, supermarkets, and pharmacies. The transaction allows Mira investors, such as Microtraction, to enter Chowdeck's capital, alongside existing financial backer HoaQ. Ted Oladele, CEO of Mira, will join Chowdeck as product manager, while co-founder Olaseike Ibojo will pause his career.
The agreement expands Chowdeck's offering from logistics to financial services and merchant infrastructure, positioning it as a comprehensive facilitator for African retail businesses.Chowdeck now operates in Nigeria and Ghana. The company, launched in 2021, aims to make 1,000 deliveries to Accra in two months, a step that took a year in Nigeria. It now focuses on retailers and no longer on customers, improving real-time inventory visibility and seller support. The integration adds new revenue streams beyond delivery costs, including in-store transactions, point of sale services, and financing.
Beyond delivery, Chowdeck is now in a position to offer integrated financial services such as inventory financing, similar to the Moniepoint or Square strategy.
