The Direction Générale de la Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) announced that the Société Nationale des Télécommunications du Senegal (SONATEL) will proceed, on July 16, 2025, with the payment of semi-annual interest and the partial repayment of the capital of its bond loan called eacute; “Sonatel 6.50% 2020-2027” for a total amount of 11.514 billion FCFA.

The public offering of bonds (APE) was launched in July 2022 on the UEMOA financial market. The main objective is to finance the company's 2020 investment plan related to its operations in Senegal, including investments in infrastructure, the development of new jobs, and the modernization of the network. Sonatel requested the sum of 100 billion CFA francs. The managers of Sonatel, advised by SGI Impaxis Securities, arranger and leader of the transaction, had undertaken to pay subscribers an interest rate of 6.50%, payable semi-annually from the date of enjoyment of the shares fixed on July 16, 2020. The operation was a success since it was closed early with the subscription of 10 million bonds at the price of 10,000 CFA francs each, or 100 billion CFA

francs.

The loan was rated AAA (wu) with a stable outlook by the GCR rating agency on June 26, 2024. According to GCR, the financial situation of the operator is generally solid thanks to a strictly controlled debt policy. The consolidated debt/EBITDA ratio has been maintained at an average level of 0.4x over the past five years, which indicates a satisfactory ability of the operator to meet its repayment obligations. This performance suggests a healthy capital structure and significant operational robustness.
