A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the West African Development Bank (BOAD) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It is a strategic partnership that aims to effectively prevent, detect and combat fraud and corruption.

The MoU sealed between Adama Papa SACKO, Inspector General of BOAD and Ms. Jelena MADIR, Director of the EBRD's Investigation and Ethics Department, marks a significant step forward in strengthening inter-institutional cooperation for better integrity in development. This signature inaugurates a new phase in BOAD's strategy in terms of international cooperation and investigation. It involves the establishment of formal partnerships with other Multilateral Development Banks.

This MoU will facilitate several key actions such as:

* Information exchange for the detection and prevention of prohibited practices;

* Cooperation in the conduct of investigations and the management of cases of common interest;

* The establishment of joint training and capacity building programs;

* Sharing best practices, technical tools and feedback.

According to Adama Papa SACKO, Inspector General of BOAD, “the signing of this memorandum paves the way for a more fluid exchange of information, strengthens the action and coordination capacities of the two Institutions, and strengthens the mechanisms of prevention, detection and response in the framework for the fight against fraud and corruption”.
