The increase in capital expenditure comes as telecom subscribers expect tangible improvements in the quality of service, following a 50% tariff adjustment approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission at the beginning of
the year.According to the country's second largest operator, “in Nigeria, capital expenditure for the quarter ended June 30, 2025 was $39 million, compared to $38 million in the same period last year,” with 53.6 million subscribers. The expenses of The group-wide investment was $121 million in the three months ended June 30, a decrease compared to the previous year, which the company attributed to differences in the timing of project execution.
Airtel Africa , present in 14 countries across the continent, continues to highlight Nigeria as the main driver of its growth, citing high data consumption and strong customer demand. The company also indicated that its solid performance in French-speaking Africa contributed to the overall acceleration of its turnover, thanks to a sustained focus on improving the customer experience.
