The 2020 report of the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) on the execution of community reforms reveals that the rate of execution of these reforms increased from 74% in 2019 to 76% in 2020.

A total of 116 texts and 84 community programs and projects were reviewed. This report shows that good progress has been made by all Member States. The average rate of implementation of Community reforms at Union level is 76% in 2020 compared to 74% in 2019, an increase of 2 percentage points between 2019 and 2020.

Of the 116 community texts, there are 60 directives, 38 regulations, 16 decisions and 2 additional protocols. By field, there are 25 texts on economic governance and convergence, 42 texts on the common market and 49 texts on sectoral reforms. The average rate of implementation of reforms at Community level is 74% compared to 69% in 2018, i.e. an increase of 5 percentage points with disparities by area and by Member State.

The report also covered eighty-four (84) UEMOA programs and projects in execution in the eight Member States for a total amount of 316 billion financed by the UEMOA Commission. Of the 84 programs and projects, there are 54 in the areas of agriculture, livestock, fishing, the environment, 18 in the areas of crafts and energy and 12 in the areas of development. community territory and transport. The disbursement rate of the 84 programs and projects for the year 2020 is 68%. All these reforms generated an economic growth rate in the Union of 0.7% in 2020 after 5.8% in 2019, despite the negative impact of the Covid-19 crisis.
