Access to digital technologies in Côte d'Ivoire has increased significantly over the past decade. But much remains to be done in the agricultural sector, at least among small farmers and the rural world.

“Technological innovations and digitalization offer the opportunity to transform African agriculture to deliver higher yields, increase value addition and ensure the production of more nutritious foods on a larger scale”, underlines Martin Fregene, director in charge of Agriculture and Agribusiness at the African Development Bank, on the occasion of the release of "Digital Agricultural Profiles" compiled by the Bank, FAO and the International Consultative Group on Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The three profiles are those of Côte d'Ivoire, Rwanda and South Africa.

In general, if in 2000 there were about 3 mobile subscriptions per 100 Ivorians, this figure had risen to 135 in 2018, apparently the last year of statistics available. The population with Internet access increased from 2.7% in 2010 to 47% eight years later.

Regarding the development of digital in the agricultural context, Côte d'Ivoire is in its infancy. The best known digital solution is Lôr Bouôr developed by Jean-Delmas Ehui. In 2015, the report says (and the Lôr Bouôr website does not offer more recent data), 840 cooperatives comprising 20,000 farmers were registered on the platform.
Bottlenecks remain such as the lack of electricity and sometimes the last stage of a connection to digitization mean that in the agricultural world, many are those who do not yet know how to use digital.
