The National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD) announced that the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (IHPC) recorded an increase of 0.5% in June compared to its level of the previous month.

The ANSD notes a trend following the increase of 0.8% in the prices of food products and non-alcoholic beverages, 1.1% in the cost of clothing and footwear, 0.7% in those of health, as well as the prices of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics, indicates the structure in its note. In annual variation, consumer prices increased by 2%, reports the document which also notes that underlying inflation shows an increase of 0.9% in monthly rhythm and 2.5% in annual variation. . In terms of origin, the prices of local (+0.4%) and imported (+0.3%) products supported the appreciation of consumer prices in June 2021 compared to the previous month, notes the ANSD. In annual variation, consumer prices increased by 1.8% and 1.2% respectively.
