This Monday, June 20, 2022, currencies are moving in a mixed bag. While the euro was firming up in the face of political uncertainty in France after the legislative elections, the pound and the rand were strengthening.

By 09:15 GMT (11:15 CET), the euro was up 0.37 percent to $1.0538. For its part, the pound edged up, breaking a three-week losing streak against the struggling U.S. dollar. Against the U.S. dollar, the pound is up 0.1 percent at $1.2236 after three straight weeks of losses. The British pound is recovering slightly after falling against the euro and the dollar in early June

The Russian ruble has stabilized near multi-year highs. At 0758 GMT, the ruble was down 0.2 percent to 56.52 against the dollar and lost 0.5 percent to 59.18 against the euro, while remaining close to its nearly five-year high of 57.10, reached in May. The dollar will consolidate in a range of 55.5-57.5 to the ruble during the day, analysts at Promsvyazbank said in a bond.

The South African rand strengthened against the dollar early Monday. At 0657 GMT, the rand was trading at 15.9675 per dollar, up 0.5 percent from its previous close. The Dollar Index was down 0.3 percent at 104.35, after hitting a two-decade high of 105.79 in the middle of last week.
