The UEMOA interbank market saw a 10.9% increase in trade volume during the month of May 2022, according to the BCEAO.

The weighted average rate stood at 2.56% in May 2022 compared to 2.52% in the previous month. On the market one week ago, the average trading volume increased by 3.5% over the month under review to reach 375.0 billion. The average interest rate on this market rose by 5 basis points, from 2.28% in April 2022 to 2.33% in May 2022, “reports the BCEAO in its May 2022 Monthly Statistical Bulletin. The continued increase in inflation during the month was mainly due to the “Food” component, which contributed 5.3 points to total inflation, and slightly less, to the “Housing” and “Transport” functions, which each contributed 0.4 points.
