The application of the measure on the minimum capital of commercial banks has been postponed until 1 January 2025 by the Central Bank of Congo (BCC).

The BCC decided to postpone the application of the measure on the minimum capital of commercial banks operating in the country until 1 January 2025. In a press release, the Issuing Institute states that this delay is due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has weakened several sectors of economic activity, particularly the Banking sector.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expert report, the initial date for the application of this measure was January 1, 2022. This measure will be implemented in minimum steps of 5 million USD by 1 January 2023, 5 million USD by 1 January 2024, and 10 million USD by 1 January 2025.
