Sangaré, chaired a working session dedicated to the mobilization of resources
financial resources in favour of agriculture. The session took place in the office of
Prime minister.
Niger explores new financing levers
for its agricultural sector, a central pillar of its economy and its strategy of
food sovereignty. The working session held yesterday is part of the
continuity of a BOA mission in Niger and reflects a common desire to
structure sustainable partnerships in a sector with high potential. She has
convened a delegation from the Bank of Africa Group (BOA), led by its director
general, Amine Bouabid, as well as several national institutions involved
throughout the agricultural value chain.
On the occasion, the head of Nigerian diplomacy
drew up an inventory of the agricultural sector, which contributes to nearly 40% of
gross domestic product. He highlighted the country's structural assets,
including the extent of agricultural land and the existence of water resources
underground, while recalling the persistent stresses associated with shocks
climate and seasonal variability.
Those responsible for specialized agencies including the National Research Council agronomic, the Central Supply of Inputs and Materials agricultural companies, the Association of Agricultural Engineers of Niger, the Riz Society of Niger and ICRISAT presented their operational priorities and needs of financing and their development prospects.
