Stakeholders from Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Mali and Senegal, were meeting last Wednesday at Dakar with the Financial Markets Authority of the Monetary Union West African (AMF-UMOA). The purpose of the meeting was to better popularize the regulatory framework applicable to the management of collective investment schemes in securities (UCITS) and alternative investment funds (AIFs).

The meeting, in person and online, was organized by the Authority of the financial markets of the West African Monetary Union (AMF-UMOA), as part of its missions to promote transparency, financial information and education. According to Dramane Diarra, director of the AMF-UMOA actors, “the objective of this reform is to strengthen the protection of investments, to promote the protection of investors and the rise of a genuine collective management industry our zone, while offering investors new opportunities diversified, secure and high-impact investments.” This The meeting aimed to mobilize professionals from the financial sector likely to create funds, to make them aware of the mechanisms regulations in force and to encourage better ownership of opportunities offered by the regional financial market.

Dramane Diarra also indicated that, many structuring innovations have been introduced, in particular the reorganization of the categorization of UCITS, in order to better reflect management strategies and strengthen the applicable framework to alternative investment funds (AIFs). The framework of the criteria investment and liquidity by type of mutual fund for better protection unitholders are also among the innovations introduced.
