The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) has increased its capital by 376%. The Khartoum-based institution is growing from USD 4.2 billion to USD 20 billion in capital.

BAWAA announced a 376% increase in its authorized capital from USD 4.2 billion to USD 20 billion. The historic capital increase was unanimously adopted by all 18 sovereign shareholders of the bank, members of the League of Arab States. The new capital structure will constitute a total authorized capital of USD 20 billion, of which USD 10 billion will be subscribed and USD 5 billion paid. This increase puts the bank's capital base and overall structure on par with other highly rated multilateral development banks.
