A case reminiscent of a state scandal is taking place at the Banque Franco-Tunisienne. According to the website webmanagercenter.com, Majid Bouden, a Franco-Tunisian lawyer and former shareholder of the Franco-Tunisian Bank (BFT), claims to have been the victim for 36 years of a judicial machination in Tunisia.

"Expropriated" and "forced" into exile, Majid Bouden, turned to an arbitration tribunal, Cirdi, to obtain compensation. Tunisia contests the jurisdiction of the latter. The Cirdi arbitral tribunal declares itself competent. On several occasions, the possibility of an amicable settlement presented itself, especially after the revolution. No one wanted to grab it. The Tunisian state is now facing a big problem in connection with the BFT affair. This is the injunction – for the umpteenth time – that the ICSID has just addressed to him to force him to pay his share of the costs relating to the arbitration proceedings concerning BFT. Of the 500,000 dollars it is required to pay, Tunisia has so far only paid 75,000 dollars, the rest having been advanced by the company ABCI.
