A press conference was held in On the afternoon of Friday, November 21, 2025 in Ouagadougou by the Mobile Brigade of economic control and the repression of fraud (BMCRF). The debate has focused on the seizure of shea kernels.

Exporting shea kernels to countries foreigners persists, despite its formal ban. This causes rarity and the lack of such products at the national level. Drastic measures have been taken in order to stop this practice. These include the suspension Temporary export of shea kernels by joint press release No. 024-012/MICA/MEF of September 18, 2024; the institution of a period intended for the export of shea kernels from December 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026 for the 2025-2026 marketing year, by joint press release No. 025-013/MICA/CAB of September 22, 2025; and the institution a pass for the transport of shea kernels inside the country by press release No. 025-014/ MICA/CAB of September 26, 2025.

These measures aim to encourage and support the development of local industries, to protect national jobs and to increase the added value captured by the country's economy.

BMCRF coordinator Sanibé Faho indicates that “the prices of shea kernels were set according to the various regions; we have two trends: the price administered at 300 F per kilo and also prices that are administered at 310 F in some regions. So the seized almonds will be sold in the two major cities, including Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso. In Ouagadougou, the price will be 350 francs per kilo. One Press release is out and officially announces the sale of the seized almonds, including on Monday, 24 November 2025 at 10 am, and also in Bobo-Dioulasso, at within the regional industry directorate”.

To ensure the effective implementation of these measures, the BMCRF the regional directorates of industry, commerce and crafts, the defense forces and the security forces, as well as Water and Forests and customs services have been called upon to conduct control operations throughout the national territory.

As a reminder, shea is one of the strategic products of the economy of Burkina. It plays a major role in the creation of wealth and jobs for populations, in particular women and young people.
