For the sixth year in a row, stock exchanges around the world are ringing their bells for Gender Equality on International Women's Day. The WAEMU Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) celebrated the culture of excellence among young girls in school with the NGO Dynamique Excellence Afrique which popularizes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) among young girls.
A partnership between ifc/IFC, the Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, the UN Global Compact, UN Women, the World Federation of Exchanges and Women in ETFs, the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality ceremony aims to raise awareness among financial market participants on the issue of women's economic empowerment and opportunities for the sector. to advance gender equality for more harmonious and sustainable development.
The theme for International Women's Day 2020 is "I am generation Equality: Stand up for women's rights" is a commitment, a call for economic justice and rights for all, women's empowerment and the promotion of technology and innovation so that they can contribute to gender equality and women's leadership.
The guest of the BRVM for the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality 2020 was the NGO Dynamique Excellence Afrique (DynExcAfrica). This NGO promotes the culture of excellence among school-going girls from working-class neighborhoods and rural areas, encourages, motivates and prepares young girls to embrace stem-related fields (Science, Technology Engineering and Mathematics). It facilitates access to quality information and training, thus contributing to bridging the digital divide and promoting STEM by building a generation of skilled and competitive African girls for Africa's sustainable development.
Mr. Edoh Kossi AMENOUNVE, Director General of the BRVM, expressed his conviction that "gender equality cannot be decreed. She is getting ready.
