On Friday 17 October last year, the National Cell Financial Information Processing Authority (CENTIF) from Benin officially launched the program to support the national system to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

The ceremony took place in the presence of various actors, in particular officials of CENTIF Benin, senior officials of Beninese security forces, the CRIET special prosecutor, representatives of civil society, intelligence agents as well as some managers of financial institutions. In fact, the project called SecFin Africa opens a new path in the fight against money laundering capital and the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of massive destruction in Benin. During the project launch ceremony, in His word of welcome, Abdou Rafiou Bello, president of the National Unit of Financial Information Processing (CENTIF), emphasized that this launch Official intervenes in a context where Benin continues to strengthen its fight against money laundering, terrorist financing and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Before the official launch of the project, the Representative of the Minister of State for Economy and Finance, Awaou Baco, Deputy Secretary General of the MEF, recalled that “the laundering of capital, the financing of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of Massive destruction today represent transversal threats that weaken our economies, compromise the stability of our systems and endanger the security of states and our citizens.”
