The results of the opinion survey on the economic situation carried out among business leaders by the Directorate of Forecasting and Economic Studies (DPEE) based in Dakar reveal that the business climate in Senegal improved by 1.8 points in February 2022 compared to the previous month.

The synthetic business climate indicator stood at 98.7 compared to 96.5 in January 2022. It remains below its long-term average of 100 mainly due to the optimism of service providers, according to the DPEE. Over one year, the business climate indicator strengthened by 1.5 points in February 2022.

In the industry, the business climate fell by 2.0 points, on a monthly basis, reflecting the unfavorable direction of the balances of opinion related to the orders received. Concerning buildings and public works (BTP), the business climate deteriorated by 0.6 points, on a monthly basis, under the effect of the pessimism of the respondents regarding the general activity and the prospects of activity and public orders. With regard to services, the business climate strengthened by 4.9 points on a monthly basis, supported by the favourable orientation of the balances of opinion on applied tariffs and expected turnover.
