The Compagnie Abidjanaise de Réparation Navale et de industrial maintenance (CARENA) presented on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Abidjan, its new 12,000-ton floating dock, intended to reinforce its capacity to accommodate large vessels.

This new cutting-edge industrial tool is added to the two docks already operational of 2,000 and 10,000 tons. It will allow to welcome simultaneously vessels of various sizes, in particular those from the rapidly expanding oil industry in Côte d'Ivoire. With its impressive dimensions — 144 meters long and 48 meters wide.

The official ceremony took place in the presence of Director General of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan, Hien Sié Yacouba, of the director of office of the Ministry of Transport Koné Djoman, representing the minister, as well as the director general of La Carena, Jean-François Arhan. Were also present Ms. Asta-Rosa Cissé, Director of Côte d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso from the AGL group, several personalities from the maritime world, as well as traditional authorities of Locodjoro, testifying to the strategic importance and symbolic of this event.

For Jean-François Arhan, this dock is a a real lever for accelerating the Carena's performance. “Thanks to this innovative tool, a greater diversity of interventions, on more impressive and within more competitive deadlines, can be achieved”, he affirmed. He also welcomed the opportunity offered by this infrastructure for the strengthening of local skills, underlining the company's desire to continue to invest in Ivorian know-how
