The African Union announced the reintegration of the Guinea to the continental organization after 1325th meeting of its Peace Council and Security (CPS) held on January 22, 2026 in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital where the seat is located.

After nearly five years of suspension, Guinea has marked its official return to union African (UA) by a diplomatic presence of major scale during the 39th AU summit in Addis Ababa. This reintegration, finalized at the end of January 2026, following the recognition by the Council of peace and security of the AU of the political transition of Guinea, in particular of the peaceful presidential election held on 28 December 2025.

The “diplomatic offensive ” Guinea was characterized by a series of high-level bilateral meetings level aimed at restoring the country's influence in global governance.
