On the occasion of the first State visit to Angola of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, the two countries signed five instruments legal cooperation. The announcement was made on Sunday, November 9, 2025 via a publication by the Angolan presidency.

The President is on a state visit for four days, from November 8 to 11. This is the first visit by an Indian president in Angola. Murmu has officially been welcomed at the presidential palace by Angolan President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, with a 21-gun salvo and a guard of honor.

The two leaders then met at the level of delegations, at the end of which memoranda of understanding were exchanged between the two countries, followed by a joint reading of statements to the press.

Mr. Murmu said that the partnership between India and Angola was based on “mutual trust, respect and a shared vision for the prosperity of our peoples.”

She thanked the Angolan people and the Government for welcoming its delegation to their country and for having it invited to attend the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of their independence, November 11.
