the Director General for West Africa of the African Development Bank ( AfDB ), Marie Laure
Akin Olugbade, have signed two agreements relating to the financing of two projects for a total amount
67 billion CFA francs, according to the Senegalese press agency (APS).
Both agreements were signed on Tuesday. The first agreement relates to the project for the enhancement of
water for the development of value chains (PROVAL-CV), co-financed by the AfDB to the tune of 60.83
million euros, or about 40 billion FCA and ''Africa Growing together fund'' (AGTP) for an amount
of 26.75 million euros, or approximately 17 billion FCFA.
The second agreement concerns the Institutional Support Project for the Mobilization of Internal Resources and
the attractiveness of investments (PAIMRAI), financed for its part by the African Development Fund
(FAD) for an amount of 10.84 million units of account, or about 8.68 billion FCFA.
These two projects, which are part of the Bank's support for the implementation of the plan
Priority Action No. 2 of the Emerging Senegal Plan (PSE), result in accordance with the commitments made during
of the advisory committee in Paris, informs a document given to the press.
The text adds that the PROVAL-CV, resulting from the national program for the development of small-scale irrigation
(PNDIL), is part of the pursuit and capitalization of the achievements obtained within the framework of the project in
AfDB -financed course in the agricultural sector.
This project "will make it possible to promote 5,000 productive SMEs AND SMIs in the value chains, the
creation of 28,000 additional direct and indirect jobs", declared the Director General for Africa of
AfDB West .
Marie Laure Akin Olugbade added that 30% of these job positions are envisaged for women and
the 40% for young people, noting that they will establish the optimal conditions for the implementation upstream
agropoles that are planned by the government.
The Senegalese Minister of the Economy, for his part, indicated that this project will contribute to establishing "a
strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth and an improvement in the living conditions of the populations
It should also "contribute to the sustainable increase of agricultural productivity, jobs and
incomes in rural areas," said Amadou Hott.
