The People's Republic of China launched its "Access to satellite TV for 10,000 African villages" project this Thursday in Abidjan in the presence of Wan Li, Chinese Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Sidi Tiemoko Touré, Minister Ivorian of Communication and Media and Pang xinxing, Vice President of Srartimes Group
This project aims to provide digital television to 500 villages throughout the national territory. It will be produced by the company Startimes. The Chinese operator will install in each of these villages two solar-powered projector television systems, a 32-inch digital television kit, together with satellite dishes, accessories and installation services.
In addition to all this device, 20 sets of reception terminals, including decoders, satellite dishes, accessories and installation services and television sets will be distributed free of charge to 20 households per village. The maintenance of the equipment will be ensured by young Ivorian technicians, trained for this purpose.
The "Access to satellite TV for 10,000 African villages" project launched in 2015 by Chinese President Xi Jinping aims to strengthen Sino-African friendship. Better still, through this donation, China wants to contribute to accelerating the digitization of radio and television in Africa. And promote religious exchange, transmit Chinese know-how in the fields of agriculture, education and health.
25 African countries, including Mozambique Tanzania, Nigeria, Guinea, Cameroon, Malawi, will benefit from this project.
