Sunday, November 16, 2025 opened in Algiers the work of a training workshop dedicated to “cryptocurrencies”. Organized by the Department of Justice in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Algeria, this workshop brought together magistrates, police officers judicial as well as financial analysts from the Processing Unit of financial intelligence (CTRF) and the Bank of Algeria .

The cryptocurrency training workshop is coming in addition to the one organized last July on “intelligence” from open sources”, supervised by the International Programme Assistance and training in criminal investigations (ICITAP), under of the American department of Justice . The Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Mohamed Regaz indicated that the choice of this vital theme translated “the common desire of the two countries to be in step with the challenges contemporary ones, especially those relating to the fight against financial crimes cross-border, which pose a threat to economic security and to the sovereignty of states.”

According to Mr. Regaz, this workshop will make it possible to “acquire tools and advanced techniques for the detection and analysis of cryptocurrency transactions”, which will contribute to “increasing efficiency surveys and the exchange of information between the institutions of the two countries, particularly in the fight against financial and economic crime.”

Work will continue until next Thursday.
