The National Cybersecurity Authority of Rwanda (NCSA), in partnership with Cisco and GIZ, inaugurated on Thursday, October 2 the CyberHub, a center dedicated to talent development and innovation in cybersecurity. Located in the College of Science and Technology of the University of Rwanda in Kigali, the CyberHub includes a cybersecurity academy, a hub of innovation and cutting-edge technological laboratories.

The project is carried out by the Autorité National Cybersecurity Agency (NCSA), which describes it as a hub for bringing together industry experts, international partners and technology providers around a common goal: to build an ecosystem dynamic capable of responding to growing digital threats. The CyberHub already houses a specialized academy, an innovation center and several technological laboratories that will serve as a learning ground and research for future specialists.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of representatives of the government, the Cisco company, the German cooperation via GIZ, as well as private sector actors. It is Paula Ingabire, Minister of ICT and Innovation, who made the cut of the ribbon, officially marking the launch of this infrastructure.

Among the guests, Silvia Heer, manager of the cooperation at the German embassy, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity for national development, placing it on the same level as essential infrastructure such as roads or health. She greeted the initiative as a major lever to strengthen the digital resilience of countries, while stressing that it illustrated the solidity of the partnership German-Rwandan in the field of digital transformation.

For her part, Dima Kandalaft, director senior at Cisco, highlighted the need to expand the talent pool in cybersecurity. According to her, the CyberHub is a key tool to bridge the skills deficit, preparing a new generation of professionals and support Rwanda in its objective of building a secure digital society and competitive.
