During his speech to the Nation on Wednesday the 31st December, Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Burkinabe Republic, announced that The government plans to accelerate the digitalization of the justice sector starting in 2026 in order to strengthen the inclusion of the population.

The Burkinabe authorities are banking on integration generalized digital technology to support socio-economic development. Cela covers all sectors, including the justice sector. The head of government has indicated that “efforts will continue at the level of justice in the digitization of all actions as well, so that users do not have not necessarily have to go to the courts, which usually meet in urban centers; and that they can stay where they are to be able have access to fair justice and to all the documents that justice can deliver”.

This announcement comes about two weeks after the launch of three new digital platforms designed to bring together citizens' justice. They allow the filing and follow-up of complaints in Online, the dematerialized application for visitation permits for prisons and correction, as well as the online obtaining of acts derived from the RCCM (Trade and Property Credit Register), in particular extracts, registration certificates and certificates of non-bankruptcy.

This initiative is part of in a broader vision of digital transformation driven by authorities, which place ICTs at the heart of socio-economic development. According to President Traoré, the country must get out of a precarious situation to become a model.
