Indeed, as part of the sustainability of the achievements and the amplification of the results of the Youth Employment and Skills Development Project (PEJEDEC), the World Bank has just announced additional funding of 100 million dollars, or 60 billion F.
This information is given by Mr. Pierre Laporte, Director of Operations of the World Bank. This was at the end of a field visit to the beneficiaries of urban and rural projects financed by the World Bank within the framework of PEJEDEC in the district of Yamoussoukro.
This sum, he said, comes to continue improving access to temporary jobs and provide skills development opportunities for young Ivorians.
Preparation work has started and ensures that no later than July 2020, this support will be approved, while indicating that phase 2 of the ongoing PEJEDEC project, which ends next June, will be postponed for a few months.
“The World Bank will provide funding of 60 billion F for youth projects. In view of the excellent results of the first two projects.
We are going to listen to the beneficiaries of our previous projects to learn lessons in order to improve the various components of the systems that will be retained,” he said.
With this sum, adds Pierre Laporte, the World Bank contributes alongside the Ivorian government to the implementation of the government's social program in its axis 4 which concerns the empowerment of young people and women.
Through this axis of the Psgouv, the government through the Ministry of Youth Promotion and Youth Employment wants to offer employment and internship opportunities to thousands of young people by 2020.
To achieve this, 4 systems have been selected, namely additional qualifying training, internships, entrepreneurship and THIMO.
With regard to the field visit, the delegation of Minister Mamadou Touré and that of the World Bank led by Mr. Jean Claude Tchantchoung, administrator of 23 countries including Côte d'Ivoire visited the 400 beneficiaries of the Sakrofa site who been trained in Rural Apprenticeship in the areas of poultry and pig farming and the young pastry chef David Kouassi Bi who is a successful integration model thanks to PEJEDEC.
