The National Director of the Bceao for Senegal, Ahmadou Al Aminou Lo and the Directors General of the local credit institutions, had this morning a working session lasting several hours, in Dakar. On the sidelines of this meeting, behind closed doors, information notes delivered to the press reported on the activity of banks, which remained on a bullish momentum during the first half of 2019. But, the Bceao noted that it is, however, "at a slower pace than the previous semester.
 
As proof, "at the end of June 2019, the total balance sheet of the banking system stood at 7,378.7 billion against 7,249.8 billion in December 2018, a half-year increase of 1.3% annually by 9.1%. This situation is the result of the increase in net outstanding loans to customers of 180.5 billion (+4.1%), mitigated by the decline in securities held by Senegalese banks (-11.3 billion).
 
This upward trend has not spared deposits and borrowings, the institution also pointed out. According to her, "they are valued at 5.031 billion in June 2019 against 4,829.7 billion in December 2018. This represents an increase of 201.7 billion (+4.2%). They are divided between demand deposits (2,852.5 billion ; +6.1%) and term deposits (2,178.9 billion)."
