Cotonou hosts a major conference on electricity in West Africa (WAPECC 2025) from 3 to 5 December 2025. This Major conference aims to find solutions so that more families have access to energy, especially in rural areas.

Ministers, business leaders, experts in energy and representatives of international organizations will meet for three days to exchange ideas and propose projects. They are going to talk about several topics.

* How to produce more electricity with the sun, wind, or water

* How to better distribute energy in cities and the villages

* How to use new technology to make networks more efficient

* How to work together across countries to move forward more quickly

The WAPECC 2025 Conference mobilizes a wide range of key participants. Regional institutions, guarantors of regulation and integration, will be represented by the Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ARRE), the Association of Companies Électriques d'Afrique (ASEA), the ECOWAS Commission and the West African Power Pool (WAPP). National electricity companies (SENELEC, SBEE, CIE, SONABEL), as well as technical partners such as KfW and GIZ, confirm the presence of the main decision-makers in the sector.
