The managing director of Exim Bank of India, T.D. Sivakumar, was interested in agricultural potential in Côte d'Ivoire. It was during a meeting at the headquarters of Exim Bank (Export-Import Bank) of India, on January 19, 2025, in Mumbai (western region of the country).

“We have a lot of opportunities in terms of agriculture. There are cocoa and cashew nuts. It is something that we we can watch. As I mentioned, we have three offices in Africa. Côte d'Ivoire is one of them,” said the director general during a meeting. “We look forward to discussing what India can do with businesses in Côte d'Ivoire,” he also said. It will be a question to support certain businesses in India that may be attracted by investments in this West African country which has numerous resources.

According to the director, “there are a lot of companies in India that would be happy to set up projects for develop these agricultural products, turn them into added values and finally, the export”.

According to him, this strategy will allow Ivorian farmers and in turn to the whole of Côte d'Ivoire to improve its earnings. Moreover, this sector will be a major source of jobs.
