As part of the plan strategic Djolibal, the West African Development Bank (BOAD) announces a step forward major in strengthening its financing capacity with the increase the size of its portfolio-type sovereign credit insurance policy signed in June 2023. This coverage is taken out from a pool of insurers leading private companies now reached 297.6 billion FCFA (about 454 million Euros).

This cover confirms trust renewed strength of the credit insurance market in the solidity of the assets of Bank, while strengthening the resilience of its financing model.

BOAD, supported by insurers rated between A- and AA-, the BOAD thus improves the average rating of its global loan portfolio, with the aim of positively influencing its own “investment grade” rating.

This credit insurance program, combined with securitization is a pillar of BOAD's strategy in terms of risk distribution and credit enhancement. With this extension, the The total amount of assets covered by the Bank is around 700 million euros, representing 15% of its overall loan portfolio. This dynamic demonstrates BOAD's commitment to make full use of this instrument for optimize its risk management and increase its financing capacity at benefit of its member states.
