The Prize for the best African financier of the 2019 edition of the Financial Afrik Awards,
was awarded Thursday to the Director General of the Regional Stock Exchange (Brvm), Félix Edoh
Kossi Amenounvé, who is one of the 100 personalities who are transforming Africa.
The prize was unveiled during a gala dinner, in a reference hotel, not far from the Lagoon
Ebrié in Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital, in front of an audience of personalities from the world of
finance, Fintech and the economic sphere.
At the head of the Brvm of the Uemoa space (West African Economic and Monetary Union) since October
2012, the only stock exchange in the world belonging to several countries, Mr. Edoh Kossi Amenounvé succeeded in the
"adventure" by making this stock exchange the first showcase of the Economic Union in the financial markets
international.
He said he was honored to have this award which he dedicated to his family and his team. An experienced financier, Mr. Amenounvé has
allowed in 2019 the listing on the Brvm of the banking group Oragroup, the largest “IBIO (share
Bourse)” on the market, and the quotation of the bonds of the diaspora of the Bank of the habitat of Senegal
(BHS).
The Best Minister of Finance award was given to Ahmed Shide from Ethiopia who successfully implemented
reforms aimed at consolidating macroeconomic aggregates in his country, which is counting on a
economic growth of around 9.2% in 2019 against a rate of 7.7% projected by the IMF.
Included among "The 100 who are transforming Africa" are the Ministers of Economy and Finance of Benin
Romuald Wadagni from Togo Sani Yaya, Mohamed Benchaàboun from Morocco and Geraldo Joa Martins from
Guinea-Bissau.
The prize for the best CEO of the year was awarded to Mohamed El Kettani, CEO of the Moroccan group
Attijariwafa Bank. He has, beyond the borders of his country, woven a “smart” banking network on the continent.
The price of the deal of the year was snatched by the Senegalese Pathé Dione, CEO of the Sunu group following
the acquisition of Allianz subsidiaries.
Carlos Lopes won the Economist of the Year award with "African in transformation", a book published
in April 2019, in which the author reports on eight major challenges facing Africa. A book hailed by
Russian Academy of Sciences and George Washington University.
Media boss APAnews and Sarah Media, Abdallah Mohamedi, adviser to Heads of State and
prominent political personalities, is one of the "network men and women" who
are transforming Africa, as is the Ivorian Euphrasie Yao, coordinator of the Compedium for the promotion
women's skills and Didier Acouetey from Africa SME champions forum.
In the Fintech of the year category, Yves Eonnet, CEO of Tagpay, author of the book "Fintech: les
banks strike back", was selected by the jury as the best in this segment of the
finances. The Ivorian Barthélemy Kouamé is among the nominees with his application Timonn.
The Financial Inclusion Award was given to Kristine Ngiriye, founder of Entreprenarium which funded 3
000 women from several African countries with the corollary 12,000 jobs created. At the level of
insurance, is quoted the Ivorian Jean Kacou Diagou who passed the baton to his daughter Janine Diagou.

As Governors of Central Banks, the Governor of the Central Bank of African States
of the West (Bceao), Meyliet Koné, as well as that of Kenya, Patrick Njoroge, Tarek Amar of Egypt and
Abdelatif Jouahri de Wali of Bank Al Maghrib of Morocco, are also on the list of 100 personalities
that are transforming Africa.
Four development bankers were shortlisted by the judging panel, including Akinwumi Adesina, Chairman of
the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Benedict Oromah of Afreximbank, Admassu Tadesse,
President of Trade and Development Bank and Samaila Zubairu, CEO of Africa finance corporation.
Regarding "market values", we have as processors of the African continent, between
others, Anouar Hassoune, CEO of Wara, Kadi Fadika-Coulibaly of SGI Hudson&Cie, the Ivorian Stanislas
Zézé, CEO of Bloomfield and Mike Coffi of EDC Asset Management.
