microfinance and postal services (Eco CCP in particular) recorded a 24% jump, from
50% to 74%. The information was shared this Thursday, October 03, 2019 by Demba Tignokpa, Minister of
development and cooperation planning at the 3rd session of the National Credit
Council
(CNC).
This increase over the last five years also reveals an evolution in the rate of access of
Togolese in financial services, from 2018 to 2019. Already in 2018, said Kossi Tenou, National Director of
the BCEAO on the occasion of National Financial Inclusion Week, "statistics show that in
Togo, just over 2/3 of the population aged 15 and over, has access to financial services."
This breakthrough is driven by the dynamism of the traditional banking sector, that of microfinance and Eco
CCP, not to mention mobile money, and mobile banking which are booming in the country.
