About 76 Decentralized Financial Systems (DFS) were counted in Togo at the end of March 2019, while the
government launched the National Inclusive Finance Fund (FNFI) in January 2014, in partnership
with about twenty of them: This is the picture drawn up by the Central Bank of West African States
West (BCEAO) on the situation of the microfinance sector in WAMU Member States under
of the first quarter of 2019.
The objective remains the empowerment of social categories excluded from the formal financing system. And
since then, the years go by and inclusive finance has been a success, as proven once again by the
latest BCEAO report.
According to the report, in the WAMU, “the examination of the intermediation indicators of the DFS of the Union highlights
a development that is relatively favorable to financial inclusion”.
Over the period under review, the amount of deposits collected stood at CFAF 1,390.8 billion against
1,248.7 billion FCFA a year earlier, an increase of 11.4%.
This progress is clearly recorded in Togo (+16.0%). A success placing Togo as the
second best performing country in the region in terms of financial inclusion.
With regard to the outstanding credits of the Union's SFDs, it increased by 9.9% compared to its level at the end of
March 2018, to stand at CFAF 1,388.9 billion.
This increase was also observed and raised in Togo by +15.3%.
While Senegal (+9.8%), Côte d'Ivoire (+8.1%) or Burkina (+7.5%) achieve less.
Thus confirming the dynamism maintained and the impact targeted by this program to fight against poverty.
As for the average outstanding amount of financing per beneficiary, it increased, standing at the level of approximately
200,000 FCFA at the end of March 2019 against 150,000 FCFA a year earlier.
These results relayed by the report of the BCEAO, confirm the effort of the Togolese government in the fight
against poverty through financial inclusion.
