The transaction concerns the sale of 7.4% of the capital through an accelerated bookbuild (ABB), carried out on Wednesday 20 April.
The sale brought in nearly £526 million, or $687 million to Barclays. The net proceeds of the transaction will be used for the general business needs of the UK banking group. In a statement on Thursday (April 21st), Barclays said it had sold 63 million ordinary shares of Absa Group Ltd. for 164.0 South African rand ($10.91).
