Yokohama, By signing on August 29, 2019 in Yokohama, Japan, an agreement for the establishment of a vehicle assembly plant in Côte d'Ivoire, the Japanese manufacturer Toyota, confirmed what the Ivorian Prime Minister, Amadou Gon Coulibaly, said earlier the same day in Yokohama. Since 2012, Côte d'Ivoire has enjoyed a favourable investment climate.

This was during a panel on the private sector organized as part of the 7th edition of the Tokyo Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) held in Yokohama from August 28 to 30.

"Côte d'Ivoire has managed to climb, for the third time, into the top 10 of the best reform countries in the world, under the Doing Business 2019 report, after those of 2014 and 2015," said Amadou Gon Coulibaly.

According to the Head of Government, the strong Ivorian economic growth, based on the dynamism of the private sector, has been made possible thanks to reforms, at the judicial, administrative, fiscal, financial levels, etc.

And to cite the Doing Business 2019 ranking which sees the country go from 177th place in 2012 to 122nd in 2018.

The Prime Minister reassured businessmen and political decision-makers that political stability and security in Côte d'Ivoire will continue to strengthen.

He therefore invited Japanese companies to strengthen their presence in Côte d'Ivoire by the next edition of TICAD. Adding that the conditions are more than ever met for their successful establishment on the African continent, particularly in Côte d'Ivoire.

Amadou Gon Coulibaly also indicated that their investments will not only provide them with a profitability higher than the world average, but that they will contribute above all to the industrial development of the African continent, with the creation of many jobs for young people.
