West African (UEMOA) welcomed Friday in Dakar the performances of its members during the 3rd
quarter 2019 with a growth rate of 6.6%, an increase of 0.3% compared to the 3rd quarter
2018.
"Fiscal consolidation efforts in the Member States have resulted in a reduction in the deficit
overall budget of the Union at 2.7% of GDP against 3.3% in the same period the previous year", a
stressed the Beninese Minister of Economy and Finance, Romuald Wadagni at the opening of the Council of
WAEMU ministers of which he is the president.
He also encouraged member states to "stay the course of bold reforms in order to raise
the challenges of strengthening the foundations of the economy and improving the well-being of the population".
Mr. Wadagni recalled that the last session for 2019 of the WAEMU Council of Ministers is being held in
following several major events in the regional integration process, including
the Extraordinary Conference of Heads of State and Government on Financing Security and ><
second edition of Financial Inclusion Week.
The order of the Council shall include the assessment of the report on the economic and monetary situation in the Union
to 30 September 2019 and the draft 2020 budget of the Regional Council for Public Savings and Markets
