Abidjan– The African Development Bank's (AfDB) Fourth Industrial Revolution report revealed on Wednesday that precision agriculture will be an advantage for Africa, during a workshop on the digital economy and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Returning the findings of the AfDB report, Tecknopolis consultant Francic Sadeski said that in the future, the fourth industrial revolution will allow Africa to do precision agriculture with drones, to help Africans feed themselves, improve the supply chain and modernize agriculture.

In the field of energy, Francis Sadeski specifies that the fourth revolution will make it possible to make a better coverage and energy distribution of distant households. She adds that this revolution will make it possible to respond to societal challenges and achieve the Millennium Development Goals.

At this workshop held on Wednesday and Thursday, politicians and decision-makers were questioned on the need to question this new industrial revolution. "It is necessary that politicians consult to have a position on the 4IR and that they define strategies adapted to their own challenges " said Francis Sadeski.

Panels include the digital transformation process for African business; the use of drones for increased business productivity; and how technology can accelerate financial inclusion in Africa.

Participants in the workshop come from ministries in charge of the digital economy, industry and investment, the private sector, civil society organizations, development partners, the media and the Bank's community.

The fourth industrial revolution is the emergence of new disruptive innovations that take into account digital, technology and biology, it is said.

The African Development Bank Group aims to reduce poverty in these regional member countries by contributing to their sustainable economic development and social progress.
