Officials of the National Petroleum Institute and gas (INPG) and the Ecole Supérieur Polytechnique (ESP) in Dakar have announced on Friday in Dakar the launch of a training program of 50 technicians in oil and gas maintenance specialties.

25 technicians will be trained in maintenance electrical, while 25 other technicians will be trained in maintenance mechanics of oil and gas installations. The training will start in January 2026 and the opening of the platform for the call for applications is scheduled for November 17, 2025.

The managers of both establishments indicated that “the aim is to provide young people with specialization high level professionalization to meet workforce needs qualified in the oil and gas industry in order to strengthen the content local”.

Birame Soulèye Diop noted that this activity is part of a “clear strategic vision carried out by the authorities” audiences that make the development of human capital a pillar of their action for a sovereign, inclusive and sustainable economy.”

The latter pleaded for a “mobilization of intelligences, know-how and collective ingenuity to prepare a generation of Senegalese technicians, capable of designing, maintaining and to optimize the most complex energy installations.”

The duration of the training is one year with six months of courses between the ESP campuses and the INPG campuses. The student will undergo a six-month internship in companies, oil companies, companies in the energy sector, according to the incentives.

The targeted profiles are holders of the Higher Technician Certificate (BTS) and holders of 3 licenses in certain fields of study.
